Hourglass

Hourglass is a granulator with a twist. Its construction is built around a resampling process allowing you to granulate your source over and over. Built within Max/MSP, the device was conceived to encourage you to free yourself of any type of time grid. Therefore, it does not offer any sort musical syncing. This tool is best used for creating drawn out textures.

The resampling process creates a back and forth game where the built-in effects allow you to add or remove harmonics. Resampling your sound will paste any of the processing that is applied to the signal. You can quickly decimate your sound if you opt for a heavily-processed route.

The resampling capability grants you the possibility to record movement within your sound thus creating evolving soundscapes. Hourglass also gives you the possibility to record directly to the source buffer for  a contrasting palette of sounds.

The Max for Live version remains as free as the Max/MSP one but it can be played directly into Ableton Live.

Please note: this is my first device and it is still rough around the edges. I still wanted to share it to learn from the experience. It will be upgraded over time.

Waves is a powerful sample player that allows you to sweep through a folder of samples. This Max For Live device is made to create generative and dynamic rhythms. Its design allows you to come up with completely unique patterns and beats.

Waves excels at creating complex and intricate rhythms. Three different function generators allow you to control the sample that is playing.

The highly customizable sequencer is the most powerful tool of this device allowing you to randomize only the selected steps or to go with a more classic style of sequencing.

This is your one-stop shop for crazy drum fills and tangled rhythms.
